We’ve just released our newest list of Spanish SnapWords™ cards and wanted to share a bit more about them. The pack of high frequency word cards are designed for use in bilingual classrooms or to use in teaching Spanish. The cards show common Spanish words inside relevant images to provide students with a clue to the meaning of the word and a way for visual learners to capture that meaning in their memories. The reverse of the cards show the plain word in a large font, and then have a sentence using the word in Spanish with the English translation directly below to provide students with context. To see sample cards from List 2, download this free sample set: Download TryBeforeYouBuySP2.
While List 1 includes 60 words, List 2 contains 66 common Spanish words. Words include: Abierta, Abuelos, Adentro, Adiós, Afuera, Agarrar, Aire, Al, Algo, Algunos, Alrededor, Amable, Ambos, Amigos, Arriba, Ayudar, Beber, Bien, Bonita, Bueno, Cabeza, Caer, Caliente, Caminar, Cansada, Cantar, Casa, Cena, Cerca, Clase, Colores, Comer, Correr, Dar, Detrás, Dijo, Donde, Estos, Estoy, Familia, Fea, Feliz, Fin, Flores, Frío, Gente, Gracias, Hablar, Hermano, Hizo, Hoja, Jardín, Lavar, Leche, Leer, Número, Ojos, Reírse, Tarde, Todo, Usar, Usted, Vamos, Venir, Ver, Voy.
For those of you who also have our English version SnapWords™ Teaching Cards, a great activity to do with the cards is to stock a center with a shuffled pack of cards made of pairs of English and Spanish SnapWords™ cards. Have the children sort the shuffled pack into pairs of words.
For example, here are images of English and Spanish SnapWords™ that are paired up:
Come to think of it, this method would be great even for English-speaking adults wanting to learn Spanish, or Spanish-speaking adults wanting to learn English.
As we work to expand our selection of Spanish materials, keep posted for the arrival of Spanish SnapWords™ List 3!
