Adjective: a word that describes a noun (a person, place or thing).
Dainty: marked by delicate or diminutive beauty, form, or grace
(Merriam-Webster online http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dainty)
Aka, something that is delicate and usually small.
Example: The dainty cat licked its paw.
Parents and teachers: once your children understand what dainty means, have them write a sentence using it. As a writing prompt, you could display the following picture of a rhino and talk about how rhinos are NOT dainty.
If your kids come up with something extra hilarious, feel free to post it in the comments!
Be sure to check back each Friday for the Word of the Day from Deb.
